BY HONOURABLE DAVIES COLE.

Let's get real.....understanding this is hard, but simple.

A while ago, a friend of mine told me that someone had approached him to ask me to be the MC at some event, but the prospective client had even assumed that I would be expensive.

One other lady told me that she was apprehensive of inviting me to her birthday because the whisky she assumed I would drink was expensive.

For me it's very simple and I understand. Value is hardly in large numbers.

That gym and restaurant y'all speak about everyday is not closing down and realise it or not you give them free publicity. They do not want everyone to afford their services.

If you are invited to every club party or chilling every weekend please slow down and check. Some idea is going around that you might not like. You can't be readily available always.

There is value in scarcity and exclusiveness.

Many folks mistake popularity to mean, rampantness and accessibility. It's no small thing when you understand that limited edition items sell at a faster more expensive going rate.

I run a furniture business and walahi r nor want plenty people dem customership. Infact i tell prospective clients not to ask for a catalogue but to imagine what they want and allow my guys to bring it to life.

As a corporate banker back then I used to look at some accounts and just walk past. What do I want to have Civil service salaries in my portfolio for, when all they do is receive salaries and empty their savings accounts on the same day. They crowd the banking halls, shout a lot, give all of us a headache and the returns are small.

Folks, let us understand again for good measure.

There are luxury items and there are mass production items.

Decide what you want to be and accept the price tag that is associated with it.

Y'all be tripping when others value themselves and that's messed up.
